I've never been a fan of classes where a significant amount of their power comes from 'changing modes', but then they're given a limited number of times they can change modes. Barbarian with rage, druid with wild shape.

On top of that, rage has a bunch of riders tacked on that make it kinda a pain.

if I had to point at something that is very barbarian specific (and fighter champion I guess) is the lack of choices. You are very much funnelled in a script each round: rage - get up front- smash. Not a bad thing per se, but not everyone's cup of tea either.

Same. The IDEA of getting mad and getting stronger works, but playing it doesn't feel like that.

Best barbarian I ever played was a noble brat. When I raged I said, "I would like to throw a temper tantrum", and THAT felt right.
