When Lawrow said yesterday evening "there is no reason why Europe should be part of the 'peace' negotiations" I immediately thought of the treaty of non-aggression between the Sovietunion & the German Reich. A treaty which is also called (Marco Rubio aka) Ribbentrop & (Lawrow aka) Molotov treaty.

You're right, Ukraine must be part of any negotiation about its future. This particular meeting looks like a mafia-style sit-down, discussing new business arrangements and division of spoils. Ukraine's presence would legitimize this meeting of capos and their bag men.

I agree, but it is the precedent that worries me: any such meeting where Ukraine is discussed without the Ukrainians present will unfortunately enable more such meetings - just imagine the Chinese also joining in and offering to fill the gap that a potential US withdrawal from Europe would leave...
