I assure you, even in the US, my not liking sourdough is an unpopular opinion.

I also don't like cake or chocolate, and that certainly isn't "inherently american" now, is it?

During the pandemic, literally everyone I know had a sourdough starter culture in their fridge, and most of them have not gone back to yeast.
