Oh f****** please do. No seriously please do. Make our entire economy crash and our crime go rampant to the point that we actually rise up to overthrow this b******* we need to be forced into action for our own sake.
Tariff in Canada would have longer term consequences, such as possible job losses in the US, if/when Canadian stop buying those American items when they are too expensive.
Americans will feel the hit immediately from trumps tariffs, that you will pay.
It doesn't just affect those that voted for the clown though, it's even spreading into neighbouring countries, your biggest trade partners that they have a trade agreement with.
Trump underestimated how we would react.
Canadians are coming together in their collective anger over Trumps threats. Never mistake politeness for passivity.

I ditched politeness over on Twitter in 2023. I bought it back for Bluesky, but I'm not gonna lie. I kinda like my Twitter persona. π π€£ π bring it, USA. π π¨π¦ βοΈ
Would throw US into depression but if I was Canada or any country the GD trmp cabal is getting ready to screw over, I would raise tariffs at minimum..restrict travel to &from &think seriously about a trade embargo. The only hope the US has to regain freedom is if other countries refuse to back down
I hope..you all have your own crises looming..your health care system is falling apart &privatizing..a new governmental model..which appears to be patterned a lot like trmp's..is being bandied about. I hope you all are a lot smarter..have more competent media and less greed than we do. Learn from us
I hope the other countries behave ruthlessly towards T because someone has to show Dems how to be ruthless. Merrick Garland trying to be super-evenhanded or other Dems with obviously sensible social policy are completely idiotic in the face of a ruthless criminal WH
I doubt if any American is really ready. I know I can't imagine all the ramifications. It will impact the rest of the world too...everyone is in for a boatload of pain.
Has anyone looked into what Canadian goods our country depends on? Crude oil, gas, electricity (New England and New York), lumber, wood products, parts for cars, machinery, etc. Which means even higher prices for homes, car repair, heating....
Aluminum is a big item you purchase from us for auto and military uses. Electricity and water are up there also with o&g.
Also, our rare earth minerals.
Iβm not sure costing the beautiful people of Canada more money for American goods is helpful.
Just because weβre stupid enough to elect a moron out to destroy America, doesnβt mean other countries need to hurt themselves trying to protect their citizens from the Conβs money grab asinine policies.
You have tariffs backwards. Everything that they are putting tariffs on, we with make in Canada already (the Free Trade agreement hurt our dairy farmers), have the ability to ramp up and make fairly quickly, or can buy from elsewhere (Florida isnβt the only place in the world that grows oranges)
We also supply the US with all of their medical grade uranium for testingβ¦. No more MRIs, no more x-rays, no more CT scan,β¦
We could make it very painful for the US if we chose
Weβre being really nice with these tariffs
I think heβs like that because then heβs be able to claim that it was a matter of national security to come into Canada and force us to give them what they need
I think thatβs why the PM and Premiers arenβt doing that course of action first
He wants an excuse to invade
Canada
If there are alternatives, people will opt to not buy the higher priced American item, that would eventually result in job losses in the US.
As for raw materials, not sure what comes to Canada in that form, not much can be done on our end about that, we will just have to pay.
If past is prolog.
Though intended to help the U.S. economy, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act had disastrous unintended consequences. Other nations retaliated with their own tariffs that crippled international trade and worsened the Depression. Global trade declined by over 60% between 1929 to 1933
Canada and European nations were outraged by the new U.S. tariffs and imposed retaliatory tariffs on American goods. Global trade declined as a result of these retaliatory βtrade wars.β https://lawforeverything.com/the-smoot-hawley-tariff-act/
Yes he will. But weβve al learned that it doesnβt matter what anyone says or does. If a thought enters his mind, he responds impulsively. So ignore the rants of a spineless man-child and letβs all do what is best for our country.
Canada is more strategic with their tariffs usually. Last time they targeted products from Republican states (bourbon from Kentucky, etc). But yes, it will cost more for goods targeted from the U.S.
It will cost both sides way more. Our tariffs will hit your energy sector, auto and military sectors, and never forget how much water you get from us.
Aluminum(auto, military), electricity, o&g, rare earth minerals and so much more will cost you more.
We are prepared. πͺπ¨π¦
I am pro Canada and Mexico and anti-TFG. I didn't vote for him so I'm just going to have to roll with the punches like everyone else and find a shirt that says, Don't Blame Me - I Didn't Vote For Him.
Fkr is going cause a global recession/depression within 6 months. He's screwing us and the rest of the world will follow. I hate him so much that I'd take one for the team if I could stand the smell and get close enough.
That would be trump doing that with his tariffs, those will be paid by Americans.
Tariffs imposed by Canada will be paid by Canadians, but may cost some US jobs.
Canadian provinces trade more across the border with the US than they do with each other. Tariffs on Canadian stuff is as stupid as Mississippi and Texas having tariffs on each other.
I think a lot of Americans have a false sense of superiority.they think they are better and more important than other humans. They have needed a lesson in respect among many other things for some time. Maybe the pain and humiliation brought about byTrump will bring some of them down a notch or two.
Which, if it were to come to pass will mean that Canadian consumers will stop buying US products. Remember boys and girls, the GOP is good for business. π
You are kidding, right?
βBy and large, the economy has grown faster under Democratic presidents. Most recently, real gross domestic product (GDP) has grown by 10% under the Biden-Harris administration compared to 9% under President Donald Trump.β
I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm, with the laughing emoji.
The GOP are good at ruining an economy they were handed over that was growing and strong, just about every time, then hand back a smouldering mess when the Dems gain power again.

Now work on the other inter-provincial trade problems, strengthen Asia and Euro agreements and we never have to think about the US again.
We are so fuckedβbut we also deserve to be in this case because of that fucking asshole.

We will hurt economically, but so will they.
NO electricity.
