As you’re all coming to see, #RevPit is a lot. We ask try to balance what we ask of the editors with as much freedom as possible to do things the way that works best for them. For #10Queries, that means a minimum of 2 sets of anonymous feedback on 10 subs (so, 20 total)
But how to choose the #RevPit #10Queries subs is up to each editor. For me, as I read, I’m thinking about what’s good, what could improve, etc. and mark subs where those thoughts would help a lot of authors (not just the one who wrote that sub) with similar issues
When I’m ready to post my #RevPit #10Queries, I go back to the ones I marked and write somewhat coherent feedback + reactions in such a way that it could apply to many queries and first 5 pages (from RevPit and just in general), thus providing edutainment for all
What makes #10Queries such a great part of #RevPit is that because the posts are vague, reading them can help authors understand more about how agents and editors think about sub materials—even when it’s not your sub
And yes, we email the authors whose #RevPit subs we post about for #10Queries to tell them which one was theirs. The editors can’t email until the winners are announced though, and then it may still take a while—maybe a couple weeks even. We encourage the editors to post when they’ve sent theirs
