I have to say it's true. My wife has an 85 yr old patient who's been in the hospital for 2 months. He's an old cowboy who's lonesome and agitated. I spent an hour with him talking about the cowboy life. They said he calmed way down. Take the time and talk to people, it makes a difference.
I used to give a kid on the corner in Panama a few coins & even a Balboa when stopped at a light. He'd clean my windshield with a big smile. He had a bad eye. The US was squeezing Panama's economy. About 10 years later I was back there. Saw a man with a bad eye on the same corner. He remembered me.
