man, dealing with images & raw pixel buffers on the web is really annoying.
I'm not sure if doing light image manipulation (add padding, fill, crop) on the client is a good idea anymore, maybe I should just move it to the server.

.... or maybe it was only the 1-channel binary mask data that didn't work with it, and now that I think about it... I hope there was some reasonable explanation for why I didn't, I'm pretty sure I do at other points 🥹
