there are transphobes in prominent positions in some trade unions (e.g. the president of UCU Scotland) but so far policy-wise transphobes have made few if any in-roads

Democratic institutions that are hard to asstroturf with cash. Single issue stuff would take an age of wading through stuff terfs don't care about. Plus discrimination is bad is a central issue of unions and members interests and not a platitude

It's a reminder that transphobia is a vitriolic indulgence for well-off but hateful people who have no real issues to worry about. Trade unions generally dealing with working-class people's actual material concerns is what makes them relatively resistant imo.
