A European social security system would be more like it. Something big and present that clearly connects with the expressed needs of people who feel disconnected.

Citizen assemblies aren’t bad in themselves but this isn’t a process issue primarily, it’s a content issue.

Interesting. That seems to be at odds with what Lea Ypi is saying about problems with the EU though? Or do you think that a ‘content’ issue like social security would force process improvements, such as democratic control over the Commission?

I think it would but I also think that the point about disconnection isn’t really solved by process at European scale as it’s too slow. Also, I don’t entirely agree that far right voters aren’t that concerned about migration, nor that FR strength comes from poorer communities
