this list is wild because at the bottom you have like this trifurcation into self-expression degrees, pure guild barrier-to-entry shit, and legitimate skilled enlisted pink collar stuff. Those are three different social categories.
It would not surprise me if people who major in finance are just more likely to come from affluent background than people who get certificates in health administration
Also, hospitals will sometimes pay for nursing degrees if you're already in LPN or RN iirc
I wonder if people getting certificates in health administration are more subsidized because they're more likely to be low income and health administration is a growing field with a lot of job security
Yea probably. Also this only looks at median earnings 2 years after graduating. It's possible the pay scale starts lower but rises more, or that people are getting further education/training and so aren't employed yet. This isn't the greatest data to go off
ALL of the IDR's have been and will always be administered in the worst of bad faith.
The corporate culture of the Department of Education and its servicers makes them have no desire/intentions of cancelling loans if they can find a way not too.
I still think the best solution to this mess would be to make the universities themselves the loan guarantors instead of the government. There has to be some back pressure to not let people pay for degrees they won't be able to afford.
Yeah, but it should be cheaper if it isn't raising future income. The only way we can make it cheaper is if the money is actually real, and not just slowly absorbed by the federal government through loan defaults.
There needs to be an incentive on the universities side to make sure their graduates do not become burdens on society.
A philosophy major but be enlightened but if they can’t find a job and are 200k in debt they are going to rely on gov handouts. This is not productive for anyone.
Fuck they're going to kill PSLF when I'm within 5 months of forgiveness aren't they (and technically I'm there but the court cases have us all stuck in forbearance so our months of employment aren't counting)
I mean, Mohela just bought mine from Navient who used to be Sallie Mae. So there’s at least two loan servicers with my info in case someone “lost” the feds copy

Like it turns out the semiotics and linguistics is potentially important for machine learning.

He made a real go of it & did get a lot of loans forgiven but a super slim majority & a corrupt court can really limit your options
I thought they were the party of the working class now?
