If you're tired of Netflix and stuff, what you shouldn't do is invest in a NAS, some hard drives, a VPN, and install Sonarr, Radarr, and Jellyfin on a device and host your own Netflix with your own media. Don't do this. May need to learn to use docker, and can run it on an old laptop or something.
