Actually more than 25% in certain circumstances. E.g. 50-70% of the parts for an F150 are made in Canada and Mexico. So 25% tariff on those parts and then sales tax on top of that once the truck is assembled and sold to the average voter.

Tariffs do not necessarily work. It just "persuades" the population to buy locally manufactured products. If the product is not available at the time then importers will just pass on the tariff (tax) to customers. Until local manufacturers gear up which could be years, everyone pays.

25% is just the starting point. Add another 20% or more for transportation, stocking, and store profit. The consumer will pay up to 50$ more for those cheap appliances and such from Target, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, etc. EVERYTHING we buy or consume will increase in price.
