And still is, and this is my point: I still see much more stuff by men shared on here than by women, not just music but writing too, and you're good at redressing that. (I'm sure I'm guilty of the imbalance myself, it's all so ingrained isn't it)

With classical music, I would never claim that I was aware of this, years ago - but it always felt like there was something missing in the history of it. I started a music degree (this was 1989) and literally no women composers were mentioned. And as far as I remember, nobody even questioned it.

Yes, I was one if six music students in my year at my college at Oxford and I was the only woman; when I took the 'studies in women composers' module most of them openly laughed about it. They've grown up since but still!

Here's mine, also in chronological order. It consists of cello works by historical women composers; the cutoff date is 1951. Most of the pieces were originally written for the cello, however some are arrangements.
