Tip Time! I’m seeing a lot of long query letters. I suggest trimming your QL down to 300-350 words. I know, I know, it’s hard, but tighter query letters can give you bonus points when pitching agents. #RevPit #RevPitWaiting #RevPitTeaser

I have a weird(?) question. I have some media exposure (and am on IMDB, oddly) due to my day job (chemistry prof). Should I mention this in my query letter?

I suggest starting to build that up asap, though. A platform isn’t as important for fiction, but it’s becoming more of a big deal and something agents/publishers look at due to the author needing to play a role in marketing with how the industry is shifting these days.
IMO only if it’s directly related to your story or if there’s a short (like > 5 words) quirky way to include it in a your bio just for fun. But in general I don’t think it’ll really impact querying
Yes, one of my thrillers is dual POV. Basically, it is 3 tiny paragraphs—1 setting up GMC for MC 1, 1 setting up GMC for MC 2, and 1 weaving their threads together and establishing conflict, stakes, etc.
This def applies to non-romance books. My YA thriller is dual POV where the MCs are equally important and alternate chapters. Both need to be in the QL.

I think I could convince a lot of scientists to buy my books...
