My mums family was communist. My great uncle was part of the communist resistance and was tortured and executed by the nazis. My grandad and his entire family was in a concentration camp and then he was sent to the Russian front to die.

There was a diff between Nazi solidarity politics (=murder communists), and their social policies (which can almost seem like a welfare system & therefore "socialist"). Those pointing out the latter miss the Nazi's collapse of all social services into the moral nightmare of their own charities.

My point is that countering these views might be more effective if less focused on the labels they give to people and movements, and more on the solid work that Nazi social policies did in support of their ideology of murder.
