No one should work beyond age 56, there should be some point in our lives that we can enjoy the time we have left without the stress of co-workers and work!
Felt this one when I was laid off at age 46 from a job I thought I'd be at for the rest of my working life. Now I have too much experience to take my old position, and at my age I should have been in a Sr. position by now. And because I wasn't, something must be wrong with me.
When I was 54 my husband walked out and left me nothing. My my resume was/is exceptional for my line of work even though I hadn't worked for a year. Took 2 YEARS to get a temp job with the census and another 2 YEARS to be hired permanently at a bank. Age discrimination is REAL. No way to prove it.
