Suburban sprawl persists in some Canadian cities partly because suburbia has long been heavily subsidized. In the longterm these subsidies often lead to municipal bankruptcy. That’s where Halifax is potentially headed if we continue to subsidize sprawl, and heavily subsidize driving. 1/6
