first stop, this foliose, or leaf-shaped lichen. they are flat, thin, and have dark undersides. you can see its rhizines peeking out at the edges, helping it stay anchored in place :)
next stop, we have a tiny fruiticose, or shrub-like, lichen. this one is pretty small and just getting started. it was tricky getting a clear picture while using 2 magnifying glasses and my phone camera
last stop, some crustose, or crust-like lichen :) they are often found on rocks, sidewalks, and other harsh environments. they are teeny tiny - too small for my camera to get any detail, even with a loupe!
My groggy head thought this was soup at first glance. On second thought, I still assumed it was soup, but that you had soaked the bark to bring out the lichen somehow. Only on third consideration I realized this is a loupe (because you described it in the text) 🙃
