Since apparently it needs clarified, we aren’t talking about actual confederate monuments at the end of the Civil War, we are talking about Jim Crowe shit in the mid-20th century when the “monuments” we are pulling down were put up. There are genuine JOINT Union-Conf monuments - this ain’t them.

When there was the discussion of removing confederate statues from Virginia, an old white man stated that most people wanted to keep them. That would be most WHITE people wanted to keep them. No one asked the opinion of non-white people.
The statues of the traitors were removed.

Does ANY other country put up heroic monuments to people who defended slavery?

In Germany, every remaining Nazi site is ALWAYS staffed with interpreters who make it clear that this part of history was evil. No statues remain.

That was certainly true for many of them, but some were erected to honor rank and file soldiers. Slavery was an obscene cause for any man give his life, but the grief of the families was real whether he wore blue or grey.
