Her eyes were opened to the wonders of clownery when an ancient tome called the Grimaldi Grimoire called out to her. She found it in the arms of a long-dead clown, crushed inside one of those junkyard machines that cubes cars, driven mad by his inability to find a car that was small enough.

Clown Wizard was driven only slightly mad, her existing bipolar disorder contributing to her Magic/Madness/Sadness tax enough to shield her from complete lunacy, and was able to read through the grimoire and learn everything it had to say about both clowns and wizardry.
