This is the decades long German methodology. How do you think the EU was able to set up the euro? Everybody was "cheating", not only Greece, and everybody knew it.
I am still confused about what to do with the Germans.
They squandered every opportunity they had to do the right thing since 2008.
Blunder after blunder, after blunder, after blunder.
And even if a bit of schadenfreude would be deserved everyone would be better if the right solutions are taken.
I'm not confussed at all 😜. Indeed, far too many blunders to be just blunders, for decades. A pattern: always weakening the EU/NATO: Energy policy (de-nuclear and pro-gas); budgetary austerity/lack of € reform, hence unilateral disarmament ; environment ; emigration; Orbán, Wirecard...
I'm afraid not, they are boring, they keep its money in Russian banks to be tranfered again through the laundromant in ING, Deutsche Bank, Danske Bank, Swedbank, Nordea, Raiffeisen...I presume that is not relevant that all these financial institutions are from "frugal/stingy" EU Member States.
As a "feral perypheric" I don't mind where they keep their money.
But I do mind that they plunder our southern sunny countries when they lose the ass of their trousers in the casino of Wall Street.
You should mind, because it points to their master, and who benefits from their policies, and it's not you. They benefit from the missery of their "partners" in the perypheric Meditarranean.

It's France that somehow ended up with the wrong priorities
How to spend money on women and wine.

But I also consider the possibility that their ordoliberal credo is just an escuse to poursuit their self-interest.
And can we scold them that they spend all their money in women and wine?

I like a good complot theory, but I have my limits.
