This is one of the most surprisingly great sequels ever made. Blade Runner is the greatest sci-fi film ever made, and a sequel would most likely fail to hit any of the same notes. But against all odds, 2049 is its equal, hitting the same notes but in delightfully different ways. Cinematography = 🔥🔥🔥

That single line carries as much weight as the “Tears in rain” speech in the original, at least for me. Humanoids finding humanity better and more deeply than most humans could…the work of truly great sci-fi.
