I think Christian sects that prioritize humanitarianism need to aggressively start reclaiming the text. Call them heretics, blasphemers, point out how the defile Christ’s message. Most religions have fanatics and we all benefit when those zealots are pushed aside as fringe sects.

they think whatever their local prosperity gospel minister says is Christ and his teachings. It really is like what the plantation owners did with their slaves in terms of feeding a carefully selected and self-serving version of the Bible to the peons
