Maybe the hat itself is sentient, or maybe there is a little goblin helper hiding up there. Or maybe, the wizard is just a puppet and a magical creature lives under the hat piloting the puppet. Who's to say really.
That’s the beauty, it could be any of the above or something else entirely. Though personally I love weird mimics so I like that, I made a whole zine of mimic art so it tracks 😂
I don't know if the extra eye is the wizard's but my head canon is that it's their familiar. They get scared easily and hide under the hat, so the wizard cut a hole in it so they could look out.
