Monster Hunter is as obtuse and confusing as people joke souls games are. It’s overwhelming with menus and abilities that have no explanations or readily available descriptions, there’s no real track on progressing or guidance on when to upgrade. But it lets me bonk big monsters with bagpipes. 10/10

You wait until the end of high rank because that stops happening. Then you sit down and read what skills do because they matter now
Plus whacking a thunderwolf in the face with a frozen fish lol
But I know people who really love it
I think Rise was a lot clearer/streamlined at least for me at getting me into hunts and targeting specific monsters. And Wild Hearts (RIP 😔🙏) as well made things pretty smooth.
Maybe I was too hasty in booing people who compared souls likes to MH games
Then never explain what that means
I love this stupid game
I somehow Unga-Bunga’d into an engineering degree.
I just learned I could upgrade my armor in Wilds with these orbs or whatever. I just assumed everything was super strong 🙃
I gotta do that too actually
I thought not as Elden ring posts pre release were all about how the Game opened the series to new playstyles and player types. MH posts are all primers that went "Heres what you specifically need to do to have fun"
"Dont bother engaging with the game in this way until your at least 40 hours in"
"Remember, if you ever feel like the whole things a menotonious chore, thats because hunting is really like that, which means its fun"
MH is just a /lot/ of optional info to help you learn how to equip yourself.
Similar problem dif vibe about it
But yes, I hope they continue to improve or another series steps up to be maybe the light version of MH for the general masses like me haha.
