He had to get her name from her chart and possibly other identifying information. He wasn't involved in her care so he should be fired and have license suspended.
The worst thing is, he most likely has access to her address and phone number too. There's no saying he wouldn't retaliate against her if she reports him.
Far from over reacting, that's such a major ethical violation! And personal one! He should lose his license to practice medicine, treating the clinic like a dating service. And "I'm obviously not desperate"!? 😂🤮 He obviously is or he wouldn't take such a creepy route to hit on someone.
My mom was once in an abusive relationship that started similarly to this—the owner of a store where she’d shopped looked her up because she’d used a credit card, and apparently in 1980 that was a thing you could do. STILL PLENTY OF RED FLAGS IN 1980!!!
I hope she reports him. He needs to understand that work is not a dating site to meet women. Ugh. Also, I hope the GI places checks to see whether he accessed her personal file - usually that's restricted, and they can tell who accessed information. She should have some reassurance he couldn't.
I assume he's not normal and polite to anyone he doesn't want to sleep with. I imagine people that are only nice because they want sex think others are too so easily misinterpret kindness as interest. Still can't understand it, though, because just /
the personal experience of rejection that would have to follow thinking every courtesy was a display of interest you would think would necessarily teach them otherwise!
Uh... that's when you report him to that clinic and possibly more. That's a gross invasion of your privacy and insanely unprofessional. Posting about it might be an underreaction.
She needs to tell the hospital ASAP that this guy's stalking her. He's gone to a hell of a lot of trouble to find an email address for her that's different from the one the hospital uses.
JFC, what's wrong with men? (I know, rhetorical question and we don't have all day...)
As a healthcare worker, this is grounds for reporting and termination. It is a violation of this patients privacy as he accessed her information in order to contact her for personal reasons, a clear violation of HIPAA. He should be fired.

No way the hospital and/or the practice approves of this behavior. If they do, time to switch to a more ethical one.
This is why women are so guarded as this crap happens all the time!!
