I think one thing I definitely needed as a Reality check is that once I’m back home I’m going to regularly go back to the gym so I can recover my stamina and lose weight more effectively.

You got this! Me and a friend started to hop on a call twice a week and shoot the shit while we walk and it has been a really good way for me at least to slowly get back into working out. A workout buddy can be super helpful
Getting anxiety seeing myself in pictures is definitely not helping because all I feel every time I see myself is that it’s just more ammunition for people to bully me and I don’t think that’s a healthy mindset
hope you can gain more confidence in your body, I have been struggling with it for years and the gym has helped me so much to overcome, best of luck with things and know that you are beautiful inside and out.
The mindset is not healthy but it can help to give some kind of drive (been there as well a few years back).
You got this! It might take some time and effort but I'm convinced you can reach your goal. Just be patient with yourself and don't rush too much. Even small steps can have a huge impact.
Honestly, I relate to this. It gets to the point where I avoid pictures with family members, and I’m realising how much less of photos I have with family members.
Hey don't be too harsh on urself. Ur probably being too self critical about how u look in pictures. Obviously do work out if you want to but I highly encourage you to think about whether you might be too strict with yourself.
Make sure to set realistic expectations and focus, too.
Exercise often builds muscle. Muscle is dense tissue.
Your body may change shape and size, gain strength and stamina and ability—but if all your focus is on a number on a scale, you risk dismissing those improvements.
I hope this doesn't come across as talking-down or anything. Definitely not my intention. Not going to trauma dump in the replies about it, but suffice to say, I relate to the OP struggle a lot, and this is coming from a place of care and learning and recovery.
I have a doctor that told me my blood pressure is high, so I’ve been going for a walk most every day. I’m also overweight
With a healthier diet (low in salt etc), I’m hoping this helps
You probably already know this but remember to set small goals in the beginning. If your only goal is the long term/final one, you’re more likely to get less motivated
In my experience it helps immensely when you go to the gym together with a friend.
It’s far harder to quit, when someone is also going and you are a lot more comfortable as well.
Speaking from experience: Going to the gym consistently is half the battle.
Just being in the environment makes it more comfortable to be in while also be encouraging. Turns out no one is there to shame or compare bodies. They just want to better themselves as well.
