I'm sorry that happened to you…sounds like the cyclist was a real jerk.

It's also possible the infrastructure there seems quite bad, with both the bike lane and the sidewalk equally far too narrow.

Yes, like: Bike lanes in suburbs aren’t the best and a buffer would be nice. I know bicycle activists who fight for them. Black people cannot ride the sidewalk without disproportionate citations which I cannot afford. And historically white people expect Black people to move out their way.

So I get you making a broader infrastructure point. I was feeling some kind of way about it given the social complexity and my own sense of safety as a minority. That cyclist-pedestrian conflict can also land me in jail or harmed if they choose to escalate through interpersonal or state violence.
