‼️NEW: Meta is now blocking searches on Threads for terms such as “Trans”, “LBGT”, and “Transgender”.

However, the term “Transgenderism” does show results.

This comes days after the platform announced their intentions to stop moderating anti-LGBTQ+ posts.

I think the term is "anticipatory compliance". It happens a lot in countries that are sliding authoritarian.

unfortunately, i’ve since privated all my accounts as i’ve had a bunch of hate followers with usernames filled with the T slur, and such. it makes me sad and a bit paranoid. i’ve not faced this much anti-trans shit since early 2010s and i’m not even receiving a lot of hate. just stalkers.

I’ll stay until it stops being fun to use yea. But it’s starting to have late stage Twitter vibes and Threads has always sucked for me so I have no faith in their ability to fix things.

It really is. I've never liked Threads either, plus being under that same Meta umbrella is a little uncomfortable too - ever since Cambridge Analytica.
