@katearonoff.bsky.social is razor-sharp as always here: "In other democracies, the leaderships of parties that have endured humiliating defeats like the one Democrats saw in November—or even just regular defeats—resign."

I don’t think that’s a fair analogy. Pelosi has hamstrung progressive leaders for years while lining her pockets. She literally represents all that’s wrong with our elected officials but with a D retains a seat. Unbridled capitalism is the issue. She’s a player.
No, but the Republican party is a death-cult at this point. Democratic leadership shouldn't follow that model, particularly when by doing so they are actively impeding healthy self-appraisal, progress, and improvement.
If she truly had any dignity she would've resigned before now. She stole her fortune from the American people and then AOC's chairmanship. Shame on her. RESIGN PELOSI!!
I've stood by her [NP], admired her a lot of times [especially her demeanor J6] - but THIS? This interference at a point in her political career where... actually - she should be GONE! This set us back decades. Unconscionable, Nancy!!! It was all AOC's to have.
The job of the Democratic leadership isn’t to win - it’s to keep the money being moved from voters’ pockets into the pockets of Democratic strategists and consultants. As long as they keep the grift going, they keep their hold on power.
Nancy Pelosi has admitted that she will never support a bill that stops her from being able to trade stocks while in office. She pretends to be the sweet old lady, but she is a greedy rich person using her office for her advantage.
Really. Seriously. What DO these people actually use or do with all this wealth? It's a game to them. How much time is left to enjoy millions when you're well into your 80's?
If you can find it. A psychologist analyzed wealthy people and diagnosed a lot of them as hoarders. They have an addiction to acquiring wealth. They are addicted to greed. They have a compulsive desire to fill a void in themselves with money and possessions.
The separation of our various elected bits (House, Senate, Presidency) plays into it too, IMO. Jeffries can say, "I gained a seat when everyone else lost." Schumer can point to how many more seats we feared losing. Every part of it can disavow the other parts.
Pelosi has always been about rewarding loyalists and big $ fundraisers. It's always been party over country w/ her.
Think about it. Few would cite some legislative accomplishment if prompted. Most would remember the political stunts/fights that raised her profile but accomplished virtually nothing.
It's truly disgusting how the same small group of libs have jealously held onto power for DECADES and refuse to allow anyone young to have a say in the party. Pelosi has failed repeatedly, but she'll have her seat of power until she retires or passes, regardless of how many times she fails.
