and obviously, in the event that any VP passes, it will be sad. And it’ll be heartbreaking. And I’m curious what will happen to Vocaloid culture. If VBs will be discontinued. If people will just not use certain banks out of respect. If ppl will view the VB as a memorial

I hope we don’t have answers to these questions for many, many more years. But Vocaloid has also existed for 20 years. Many Vocaloids have existed for 15+ years… we will experience that grief in our lifetime

hmmm, this is my first time hearing of it as a potentially bad thing. When the subject matter has come up before people have mainly been excited about the idea of a voice being preserved forever. We did get Masako Nozawa on CoeFont a couple months ago knowing she's now 88

I would hope at minimum it came as part of their VAs contract to express their explicit consent about what to do after death. The voice is after all a whole extension of them they've given permission to manipulate like this.

I’d hope so too! It’s grim, but important to cover in a contract like that. Actually… I’m thinking of that private Vocaloid, Hide, now. I wonder if commercial VBs would become private upon the passing of the providers? That has to have been a rough topic for Yamaha to sort out 20 years ago

The way I've wondered this too-- especially as time passes, especially with older voice providers. What /does/ one do in this situation? What will companies do??? Is that something discussed already beforehand?? What does one do as a fan, producer, whatnot...?? Like. Man....
