The first lesson is free but then it’s a monthly subscription (although I think you can access the old version of the course without paying, because they’re in the process of revamping it)

Yeah I stuck at Duolingo a long time but I’ve made far more progress since switching
The ‘downside’ is it’s auditory based and then you need to be somewhere that you can talk aloud (so unlike duo, you can’t do it while waiting for an appointment), but really, that’s more effective for learning
Agree. I studied Spanish for 10 years, thought I had a handle on it then moved to Mexico. I was SO BAD it was embarrassing. Although I believe I became fluent much faster from my studies. Nothing beats speaking it out loud with a native speaker!
