the Cons should have went with Jean Charest when they had the chance. But their right wing side ( Harper and the IDU) needed PP as their attack dog to stoke the division/ anger in their base. The next Federal election will be very interesting. My guess Ford vs a new Liberal leader ( not Carney)

I think if he had no plans for it, some limited support for PP, however tepid, would have been easy to give.

I could be completely wrong, of course, but Ford's seen how the last four (including this one) elections have gone. I'd be surprised if he lacked this ambition.
