Even if it WAS run like a business, I'd want someone who's run a business successfully and not declared bankruptcy over and over, who isn't a convicted felon, grapist, and can still run a charity in New York State, but that's just me.

There's also the fact that most businesses are dictatorships: employees can be fired at any moment, boards decide how the business will be conducted, the CEO has immense power. That, I think, is one of the reasons why businessmen hate democracy so much.
