I got nicked, reaching in to grab some forks and spoons!
As for why, water drips toward the handle, leaving no water stains/soap residue that may collect in the basket. Especially important if your local tap water is contaminated.
But I managed to stab myself, reaching in, and I saw the blade up.
I was always told, growing up with a house of a gazillion baby siblings, pointy side down.
Now I'm the baby. XD
Funnily enough, I’ve stabbed myself a lot trying to grab forks. Had one of the prongs dig right under a fingernail as I misjudged my aim quite a few times.
