I've found it not too daunting if I go around with a lasso tool for everything and use blur for the soft shaded-areas. It does add some time though 💀

I usually use a small airbrush on a clip layer, using overlay blending with a little bit of additive.

Though I have a bad habit of putting too much time into shading on my comic because I do it a lot in my regular art 😂

And then Go full Bob Ross on bgs 😭

But a trick I found the save time is layer select cell shade layer. then border blur the selection. Then on a new layer, put the reflections in on the dark cell shade areas.. then invert the selection and use additive on the Bright parts. You can bypass Lasso completely

Oh I meant I use the lasso fill for drawing the cell shading, not for selection---That's a really cool method though! 👍

Ooooohh usually what I do is click the little lighthouse icon on the line Art, then I can just draw the edge of the shading and hit fill with reference on and it only fills the area outlined and uses the line art as a border
