AFAIK, Congress has never settled on a legal definition for domestic terrorism. Aren’t they ceding power by giving the privilege to make law around this to Treasury, in the Executive branch? Is a Republican Congress actively moving us toward a unitary executive? Why do these people want a king?
It's either a coup attempt or terrorism... Not everything is terrorism, terrorism is something very specific. I'm not defending J6, but words gave meanings.
That was my first thought! "Oh this is going to get expensive for Republican Jesus"
Let's hear the GOP argue that "When God's little helpers do it, it isn't terrorism, its love and freedom and faith."
Beings as how Evngelical Christian churches support more terrorists than any other organizations, I expect every church to have it's tax exempt status removed pronto...
Some may and some may not. There is a legal definition. If a facist is conducting terrorism, then yes; if nor, then no. Facism is a political belief system. Terrorism is defined by acts.
It aligns with broader GOP strategies to marginalise dissenting voices & consolidate control over the political narrative. By targeting nonprofits that oppose their policies, Republicans could weaken the infrastructure of resistance, leaving activists and community leaders without crucial resources.
At its core, the bill seeks to address a legitimate issue: the prevention of financial support for terrorism. However, the mechanisms it proposes could have far-reaching, unintended consequences that extend beyond its stated purpose.
