Never watched it, never supported it, and never liked it. Support other things, and do not make them so ingrained in your identity that you can't drop them if you need to.
And I'm saying this to make clear that there are lots of people who are angry at this situation, and support trans people. You are not alone, and please don't give into hopelessness, and support each other. Despair is a weapon inflicted by the cruel.
I read the books. I greatly enjoyed them despite their flaws. I also dumped them when her bigotry became obvious many years ago. No more financially supporting the series. No more participating in fandom for it. Period.
Because I was an Ender's Game fan and I've been through this before.
I only read the series once and enjoyed it for the most part, but I could never reread it. Never understood why until I watched Shaun's video about how cruel and uninspiring the wizarding world really is. People defend this thing to the death, and it just isn't worth it.
The worst thing is if it wasn't transphobia, it would've been something else, just as harmful. If anything, this proves just how self-deluding it is to ingrain something into your personality to the extent that Harry Potter has been.
Harry Potter has never brought anything good into the world. He also killed traditional animation at Disney and stole park space at Universal from better ideas.
That's not as bad as passing legislation, but still.
