I know King's Field's combat is so slow but the aesthetic and style it so worth it. I'm very glad I played Lunacid earlier this year since it got me to go back and play the Kings Field series. I really would love to make a game that just looks like this so bad. - ThreadSky

ngl genuinely waiting to see when ps2 era aesthetics become the current thing in retro indie games

not that they haven't already de facto been a thing, but they've been folded into "ps1" a lot due to how much that's been the dominant trend

ps2 style has definitely been more overlooked compared to ps1 so far but I'm glad I've been seeing it pop up a bit more and hopefully more people will try to aim for that style. I've been bouncing around different ps2 games and it make me want to try it out soon

I recently played both this game and Shadow Tower Abyss. I think KFIV's music and atmosphere are superior but damn does STA have satisfying combat comparatively.

I agree the combat for KFIV feels very lacking but I at least like that they tried with having faster moving enemies compared to previous entries where everything felt like it was in molasses. I definitely need to play STA next it seems

Lunacid was also my reason for going back to pick up these games! its really made me wish more of that specific kind of first person dungeon crawler existed, but luckily it seems like the indie scene is making that happen!

IV is so incredible, it's one of the best experiences I've ever had with a game. It took a few sessions to adjust to the controls but I honestly love them now, there's nothing that feels quite so deliberate and tense as a King's Field game

True, it really is incredible! Im only about half way through it now but I would say it beats out two which was my previous favorite. For any one who hasn't played a King's Field game and only fast pace Souls likes I can see the transition being really hard trying to play four

Honestly don't play the KF1 first. I would recommend KF2 first and then do KF1. The second one is a lot more polished and will be easier to learn the mechanics and controls that will carry over to other entries
