UBA3:p is a great example of alternate splicing & initiation that is easy to detect in proteomics data. It is translated as either a 17 or 18 exon mRNA, by swapping in a 2nd exon. Either mRNA can give rise to a 16 exon protein that initiates on the M at the beginning of exon 2/3. #proteomics
