Oh, I see your point. It would also be a good way to drive home the point that Ukrainian language is not simply a dialect of the russian language (bc the bald jerk wouldn't understand it).
But but, according to putler, the Ukrainian language is "only" a dialect of the russian language, not a different one. So why would he need an interpreter? Surely he would understand Ukrainian. (I'm being snarky. And I do see your point. Zelenskyy should use Ukrainian and have his own interpreter).
In a negotiation, each side speaks its own language, it is good to maintain the sovereignty of each country, and not to give legitimacy to the invader.
