The first one is, of course, about the Fire Department budget. Last year’s budget was $869,947,337. This year’s was $859,140,677. That is a decrease of $10,806,660, so already far less than the $23m that’s been going around.

But there was also a memo on Nov 4, 2024 that the AFL CIO negotiations had concluded, and the tentative agreement was for $76m which means there was actually an increase for the fire department budget of around $66m.

The second piece of misinformation was spread by Karen Bass’ opponent in 2022.

He told Politico “Of course, you don’t go, That’s not leadership, that’s abandoning your post.”

He’s referring to her trip that left on SATURDAY with the US delegation to the Ghanaian presidential inauguration.

Now here is where my own expertise of living in LA comes in.

We get Santa Anas ALL THE TIME. Before Tuesday morning at 10:30am, my bigest concerns regarding them were the loud noise of the wind and my allergies, which are always significantly worse when there is a Santa Ana.
