I went to the auto show tonight. Overall, I'm not highly impressed with many of the latest models. Overemphasis on bells and whistles, and the maintenace nightmare. No wonder older used cars are becoming high in demand.

I drove one of the EV mustangs recently as a rental. It wasn't a bad drive but man I kept bumping my fucking knee into the large display. I also think things have too many touch screens. I love my FJ because everything is a knob or dial or button lol.
Also the overall range on the mustang was adequate but I feel EVs in general need a bit more range before id considering moving over. ATM I plan on keeping the FJ until it dies or I do.
Biggest issue for me is anything past 2019 has a"Glass Cockpit" 100% digital screens may work on large commercial planes but they are NOT effective for small land vehicles. Even if there is a small center HUD screen IE the 2010 vehicles you can still get all the important info on the gague cluster
It's a matter of being effective versus distracting. Some car manufacturers are replacing physical controls for menu options. That to me would be more distracting. Also, I'm not a fan of car makers sticking a monitor on top of the dash; feels lazy.
Vehicles designed for manufacture, not repair.
Half-finished software on garbage hardware for things that donβt need a computer.
Engines that shit the bed at 30-50k miles, wrapped in plastic covers.
Complexity for complexityβs sake.
