Sure, but so does mentorship. Because when you're falling down stairs and glitching out in press conferences, it's probably time to make way for a new generation. Schumer's been in office since I was born in 1974. That's ridiculous to me.
What does asking one person what they're going to do actually accomplish when it takes an entire society to bring about change? So many people keep asking me this question as if I'm some kind of dictator wielding power over everything. What's the answer supposed to be here?
The problem is that different people all have different versions and different ideas to engage an entire society to effect change.
Rather than just post here with words, it takes actions. I spent 12 years doing just that in government. Curious as to your plan.
Instead of complaining about previous generations ideas of governing, you should spend time educating your generation that there are 2 kinds of people:
This who learn from others mistakes, and those who pee on the electric fence themselves.
Which one are you?
I definitely agree that its ridiculous that Pelosi just got elected for another term at 84 and wanted AOC for Oversight. But I think in every case its good to have a balance of older experience & younger ideas & energy. But 75 might be a good cutoff (I'm 81).
Truly important to recognize the vast cultural shifts in the last 25 years, the impact of the internet, and the profound inability of our elder statesmen to relate to Millennials and Gen Z.
Experience only counts for so much when many can't even function properly. If they're glitching out during press conferences and falling down stairs, they should probably step aside and use that knowledge to mentor their replacements. That's how we move forward.
That statement is inaccurate. I value experience, but when mental and/or physical decline start setting in, congress members should retire or step down. I think we should eliminate their retirement benefits like corporations have for their employees. Then remove kickbacks and payoffs. Problem solved
Experience does not count for anything to me, you are right. Experience doesn't demonstrate values, outcomes, or even charisma. In fact, I'd say it's a valueless metric. Mitch McConnell has been my senator for my whole life (I'm nearly 44). Should I praise him for his experience?
Wow. So let’s judge everyone by a few elderly statesmen that definitely overstayed their welcome.
We can judge all you younger folks by just a few too. Ted Bundy was a younger guy, Adam Lanza was when he went after everyone at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Edward Snowden is a younger guy too.
I can broaden my contempt for "experience" as a resume fluffer to my peers, too. Ppl my age ran for my local city council on "experience." Equally vapid.
28% is good compared to 1788-1916.
First woman elected to Congress = 1917.

They refuse to let go of their greed and power.
"All Power Corrupts Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely."

The ONLY member of Congress who is 91 is Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

The work I do outside of social media has had an amazing impact on many issues. Having contacts in DC drives that change. What else do you want?

wtf are you doing other than upholding the status quo, that is, standing the way?

With that said, there are young people out there getting that experience.
