... except this time it's not homophobic to invent reasons he doesn't REALLY mean it when he says he loves another man because people... still see him as gay based entirely on subtext that only works in conjunction with the very gay attraction being denied. SURE.

This is also the reason I go insane when people call SK8 queerbait - SK8 is a textually gay show. One of the three central characters, the focal point of the story, is openly and textually gay!!

Once I saw Adam called 'arguably the most queer coded' character in SK8 and I still think about it. Not even the most queer coded just ARGUABLY.
