Interruptions were self-reported (based on a question at the end of each EMA) with 77% of participants reporting at least one interruption. We should EXPECT interruptions during EMA based on these numbers.

By far the biggest predictor of interruptions during EMA was female gender. While Amira was telling me about this finding, my 10 year old burst into my office without knocking to ask about snacks. So, thanks to this interruption, we looked at the effect of young children in the home.

It turns out, having young children in the home was associated with a greater proportion of interruptions... but only for women. If anything, male participants with children were slightly LESS interrupted (not significant though). See this figure from the preprint:

Other person characteristics associated with interruptions were mental health concerns measured at baseline (pretty much transdiagnostic) and identifying as Black/African American or Hispanic.
