#3 is dangerous without full PPE, and even then... What's left after a fire involving man made materials (whether or not the home burned down) is toxic af. Recent research from the Colorado fires has more info about that.
I recently got a virtual mailbox in LA - they scan your incoming mail, and you can choose what to forward, what to shred, what to open and scan, or you can pick up like a PO box. Only $15/month and I could see it being very helpful in managing all the paperwork. https://www.anytimemailbox.com/
Hopefully this is a wake up call for all humans to make an itemized and photographed list of things they own especially if they’re possibly emotionally, irreplaceable at least get some solace in their worth.
Great list.I would add suggestion that as you make list of personal prop, be as specific as possible-brand or the store you bought it at, how old etc. Look for receipts in your email..Ins co is going to lowball on personal prop-they will use Walmart prices to value, when you lost designer items
Use Furnished finder; it was used for long term residencies for travel nurses but I’ve used it as a limbo space, until you find your own place. It’s cheaper than a hotel and Airbnb and hopefully people with open arms can set themselves up as one if they’re able to rent out
HOAs in the surrounding area should also release contracts that state you can’t have renters; tenants for longer than (insert time here) as long as they have a background check and lease
This all is applicable for people whose losses were insured, but one man claimed that he and 70% of Palisades homes were NOT insured, that State Farm had cancelled policies there a year ago. Not sure how reliable, but he was a sports celebrity.
