But I have a feeling if it were that straightforward it wouldn’t have taken decades for the aha! moment. Maybe more of an Exorcist type of rig to push water out of an appliance Hawn could wear? 🤔
Not that you asked, but I couldn’t stop puzzling on this. My money’s on the first idea: Hawn’s head match-moved onto an articulated dummy with a hole in it.
Hawn’s lighting and edge have the hints of a blue-screen shot, which the shoulders and body don’t have. And her hair moves awkwardly on the screen-right shoulder during the turn, consistent with the “morphing” ILM was doing in the ’90s (see Willow).
Not sure what the aha! moment was. Maybe in order to boost the water flow for comedic effect, there was a pump system to gush water up from the bottom of the opening, which retracted before the final turn to reveal Willis and Streep through the opening?
