That is unfortunately the lesson Sauron leaves us with. And so we must strive to understand how we may instead act as those with hearts that beat, who understand not just rage, but compassion.

I believe my fellow elves will see that it is not wise to continue down those paths. That it is His desire we do so. There has been much lost by many, more bloodshed will not ease that pain.

Hrmmm. It is not precisely optimism I trade on, but pragmatism. Destroying Eregion was a great hurt to my people, but if the Uruk will not destroy more of our homes and will seek instead to join us against Sauron, who will, than perhaps there is a chance to move forward on those grounds for now.
