The dead citrus mall is across the street. They had a great plan to revitalize the area with mixed use development but the owner of the mall recently tried to amend the city’s proposal to scratch any real changes and add more fast food and a Home depot.
Well the adding of Home Depot wasn’t going to do anything. But the original plan would start a much more walkable town center. The surrounding areas would be stroads but you got to start somewhere. Take a look for yourself. https://www.citrusheights.net/1009/Sunrise-Tomorrow-Specific-Plan
They call the one on the stroad near where some of my family lives “Town Square.” I snorted at the name years ago before I ever knew the word urbanism. “You know what town squares require? TOWNS.”

I think you mean Greenback six lanes
I debated doing those too because they add to the surface concrete & offer nothing in terms of retail space or a destination.
I mean, in the sense that it is a large gathering place, I guess. Only that it is a gathering place for cars.
So frustrating with Sunrise Mall the way it is.
